Welcome friends, to the new Street Roots news website.
The news website is really in the beginning stages. While we make the website live today, we will still be working through different aspects of the site and glitches that may occur.
You will see a healthy mix of news and commentary from the newspaper published behind the print edition in order to support our vendors on the streets delivering content first to readers. For those of you familiar with the Street Roots WordPress, our content will be rolled out in much of the same fashion.
Over the course of the next year, Street Roots will be working with local foundations and organizations to provide blogging trainings for individuals and groups working on the poverty and social justice front. In short, you will begin to see a range of new material on the website that will offer readers something more in-depth.
The new website also has been designed with great smartphone capabilities in order to ensure readers have a great experience with Street Roots when they are on the go.
Street Roots was able to partner with the tech community to help build a website that will offer readers a centralized location to provide news, commentary and vendor profiles along with poetry and art from the streets.
We would like to offer our humble appreciation to OMBU Web who has donated 400 hours worth of work to provide Street Roots and the larger community a platform to highlight our work through the newspaper. We would also like to thank Creative Pickle for the design of the website.
We sincerely appreciated your readership and support of Street Roots vendors in the community. We welcome you to the next chapter in the evolution Street Roots.
Enjoy.
Sincerely,
Israel Bayer, Executive Director and Joanne Zuhl, Managing Editor
