This is a 10-hour per week, contracted position, paid at $20.00/hr. for actual hours worked.
The goal of this position is to ensure Street Roots obtains grant funding for its programs, including the Street Roots newspaper, vendor program, Rose City Resource Guide, and social justice efforts.
This position will be responsible for the development and implementation of a grants funding plan, including researching funding opportunities and for developing and submitting grants proposals to a variety of funding sources. This position will also participate in the development of Street Roots’ annual budget and various program and project budgets.
The position will work hand-in-hand with the Executive Director to build and maintain the grants program through understanding the mission of the organization and its programs.
Specific Responsibilities include:
Grants:
— Meet with Executive Director weekly, or as needed to maintain and develop priorities, strategies, and proposal content
— Develop annual grants funding plan – assess best fits, needs, opportunities
— Research new and ongoing grant funding opportunities
— With Executive Director, develop and define specific projects for funding
— With Executive Director, articulate goals, objectives, and activities for programs and projects annual programs
— Create project/program budgets based on activities, annual organizational budget, and funding plans
— Write proposal templates; individualize to meet specific foundation requirements
— Gather and maintain grant attachments, including financial statements, staff bios, an other required documents
— Prepare grants package with attachments according to foundation requirements
— Thank foundations for grant funds
— Support Executive Director to create and send reports according to foundation requirements
— Support Executive Director to create and maintain relationships/contact with foundations/grants officers, etc.
— Maintain grant files and attachments
Budgets:
— Work with Executive Director and Board treasurer to coordinate annual budgeting process
— Utilize financial statements to guide budget projections
— With Executive Director, identify priorities, areas of projected growth
— Work with Executive Director to identify revenue strategies, revenue projections
— Work with Executive Director to outline staffing budget, hours and wages, etc.
— Manage the budget spreadsheet, integrating staffing worksheets, project/program worksheets, and organizational budget worksheet
— Help present budget to Board, revise as needed
— Revise mid-year as needed
— Program budgets for all programs (Vendor, Newspaper, Editorial, Rose City Resource, Administration)
— Special project budgets: i.e., capacity building, technology, etc.
Other possible duties include:
— Support Executive Director in writing/editing of mail appeals, materials, as needed
— Mailing support as needed
— Provide support to Street Roots Online Auction
General: Be a Street Roots ambassador in the community
Requirements: Advanced knowledge of Excel, ability to communicate and interact with a diverse group of individuals, work independently, 2-years experience with researching and writing grants, knowledge of homeless/affordable housing and social justice issues a plus.
